Raceboard & Formula Foil SM 2023 – results

6 races over two days in very light wind conditions were challenging for Raceboard and Formulas Foil fleets during one of the warmest weekends this summer.

Masters in both the fleets have proven the fact that age is not a problem in sailing to outperform younger generations.

Master Kale (Kalevi Männistö), after having his power nap and missing the first race, has dominated in rest of races (5 out of 6) in Raceboard class followed by Mikko Bondsdorff and Tero Toivonen (Welcome back to podium, Tero!) Kale has won the SM title second time in a row. Anna Arosilta-Gurvits and Barbora Kubin had very tight competition in Raceboard women category resulting in Barbora eding on 1st and Anna on 2nd place followed by Eva on 3rd place.
The Raceboard fleet was full of great competitors. One of the highlight was return of well known Mistral One Design competitor, Jari Kokkonen, after skipping SM and all other windsurfing events for several decades.

Formula Foil class had even more challenging wind conditions and therefore managed to compete only in 4 races. Sunday 5th race had to be canceled due to wind dropping below foiling limit.
Jon Törnwall on finished on 1st, Antti Lipasti on 2nd and Master Anders Smeds on 3rd place. This fleet was also full of new surprises, additions like Heidi Karhu and Teemu Laitinen previous years known from Raceboard fleet.
