NOTICE OF RACE (NoR)
Perämeri Open 2023, Kalajoki, FINLAND These are called ”Event” from here on
in this Notice of Race

1 ORGANISER
1.1 The Event is organized by Kallan Purjehtijat ry and Rautio Sports
1.2 The event is sponsored by Rautio Sports (www.rautiosports.fi)

2 VENUES
2.1 The Event will be held in Hiekkasärkät, Kalajoki, Finland, on 11.3.2023
2.1.2 The Race Office will be in Rantakalla, Kalajoki
2.1.3 In case it will not be possible to organize the Event in the location
mentioned above (due to snow, wind or other circumstances), organizers
reserve the right to change the location to another icy water area nearby, in
which case organizer will arrange transportation to racing area if needed.
Location change shall be informed to competitors by 18:00 hrs on the day before
location change. Information will be posted in Race Office. If location change is
effective on the first racing day information will be available also on Event on
Facebook event

3 CLASSES AND RULES
3.1 The classes are Sleds with handheld sails, that means standard windsurfing
rigs, in Course Racing. Kites with skis and Kites with snowboards, in Course
Racing and wings in Course Racing.

4 ORGANISATION OF TOUR
4.1 The Notice of Race is published in Facebook event

5 ENTRY
5.1 The Event will be open as “Open Entry” for all competitors who comply all
requirements of organiser(entry form, entry fee, accepted equipment, sail
numbers, organiser advertisement, bib vests, etc).
5.2 All costs of participation shall be paid by competitors.
5.3 In case of inconvenient weather conditions, resulting in non-appearance of
the Event, the entry fee will not be refunded.

6 VALIDITY OF DISCIPLINES
6.1 The minimum number of races in series to constitute a valid series score
shall be one (1) race.
6.2 The minimum number of series in the race to constitute a valid race score
shall be one (1) series.

7 DIVISIONS
Age divisions depend on age in the first of January of competition year.
7.1 Overall: All competitors
7.2 Women: All female competitors
7.3 Youth: A youth shall be under the age of 20
7.7 A minimum of five (5) entries is required to constitute a ʻdivisionʼ within a
class.

8 EQUIPMENT
8.1 All competitors shall bring their own equipment or rent equipment available
on site by a dealer approved by organizer.
8.2 All restrictions for equipment as in Winter Windsurfing Racing Rules.

9 SAIL/ COMPETITOR INSIGNIAS & ADVERTISING
9.1 National letters & sail numbers shall be in a colour contrasting strongly with
the body of the sail placed immediately above the event advertising.
9.2 National letters & sail numbers shall be clearly legible; all sails shall comply
with the national letter system, similar to RRS 77 and Appendix G.
9.3 All competitors are given a numbered bib/ vest by Event organizer upon
registration on site. Competitors are obliged to wear the bib/ vest given to him/
her at all times in the Event area. The bib/ vest is for better recognition of
competitors. If the given bib/vest gets lost during the Event the competitor in
question shall immediately inform Race Office or Race Officer of the incident in
order to receive a new bib/ vest. Failure to comply this rule may result in
disqualification of the start/ race in question.
9.3 In the event the competitors shall carry the LOAʼs advertising.

10 SAFETY
10.1 It is the responsibility of each competitor to participate in the safest possible
manner at all times.

11 LIABILITY
11.1 Decision to race. Competitors take part in all races at their own risk. The
LOA or any of their officials or representatives or the sponsors or their officials or
representatives is not responsible, under any circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the sea either to persons or equipment, prior,
during and after the event.
11.2 Participation in events, supporting events and in each race is at the sole
discretion of the competitor and at his/her own risk.
11.3 No organisation or individual will be held responsible for any moral or
material damage that may be sustained during travel or arrival at/ departure of
the Event venue.

12 SERIES SCORING
12.1 A similar system to RRS Appendix A shall apply.
12.2 Alternative Scoring System with 0.7 points for the first place will apply in
separate events, 2nd place 2 points, 3rd place 3 points, etc.
12.3 Discards similar as in RRS Appendix A2 shall apply

13 MEDALS & AWARDS
13.1 A division will qualify for awards if there are at least five (5) competitors
registered.13.2 Medals, trophies or similar may be awarded up to the first three
(3) competitors in all valid divisions.

14 TELEVISION & MEDIA
14.1 In registering for the Event, competitors automatically grant to the LOA the
right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion,
any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other
reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event as defined in NoR and
SI in which he/she participates without compensation.

15 SCHEDULE

16 COMPETITORS SAIL BRANDING
16.1 During racing, competitors may be required by the organizer to wear
sponsorsʼ branding sail stickers above the boom. Prior to arrival on site,
competitors wishing to apply their own sponsorʼs branding to their sails below
the boom are advised to seek ʻbrand approvalʼ from the organizer to ensure that
there is no conflict with Event sponsors. The decision of the organizer will be
final.Sponsorʼs sail stickers are obligatory.

18 REGISTRATION
18.1 Each competitor shall personally register and sign the registration form and
pay the entry fee prior to his/ her first race in the event (a parent or guardian of a
competitor under age of 18 shall register and sign on behalf of the competitor
him/ herself.
18.2 Competitors will be required to produce the following registration
formalities:- Evidence of valid third party insurance- Parental/legal Guardian
Assent – for those under age of 18- Medical Treatment Permission – for those
under age of 18 or on their parents medical insurancepolicy- Proof of age

19 ENTRIES & PAYMENT
19.1 The entry fee for the Event is 50 Euros
19.2. Entry fee includes: right to participate in the Event, lunch, bib, and use of
sauna on Saturday evening
