Jakob Eklund at Olympic Games Paris 2024 in Men’s Windsurfing

Go Jakob go!

We are all following your solid results and good performance. It’s not easy to be in the top 24 countries fleet. We are all proud of you representing Finnish windsurfing.

Windsurfing has been already part of summer Olympic Games since 1984. There has been several different classes over the Olympic Windsurfing history which has always reflected the latest progress in windsurfing. iQFOiL class has been selected for Paris 2024.

Perhaps the first time in the history of Olympic windsurfing, selected class is closest to windsurfing performed at PWA events.

The class is much faster than any other previous Olympic windsurfing class has ever been. It’s very dynamic, full of different type of races from downwind slalom, course race to even marathon.
After opening series of races first top 10 competitors compete in 3 medal series, quarter final, semi final and final race. The medal series make it more interesting to determine Olympic medalists.

Opening series top 4-10 competitors competed in quarter final. Quarter final top 2 then join opening series 2nd and 3rd competitor in semi final. semifinal top 2 then join opening series 1st competitor in final race. System is not difficult and quite easy to understand.

Beside following Jakob on the actual TV there is also good way to see all information at World Sailing website thorough which it’s easy to get to live tracking that is available at https://spv.fi/liveseuranta/
